Honorable Judges, Mr. Toastmaster, Fellow toasmasters and my dear friends,

Can anyone of you here guess What these are ?

These are the latest promotional offers on a product. Freebies and promotional offers are high in Fast Moving Consumable Goods to compete against the leading brands. Offers in form of discounts are given in products which have a premium price. Mostly you come across products in-turn promotes the other product. I wish to share some offers and results from my experience.

1. A 50% extra logo in wheat flour attracted me to by a 1 KG pack. I quickly tried to grab one. Back at home I found that the product expiry date is 2 days away.

2. I had been to a property fair, were I saw a board, “Sign a loan, Own a Flat get your interiors of your choice done free”. I have never dreamt of getting a loan so easily and owning a flat with 0 effort. With the rising real estate prices in Bangalore, I quickly found my place in the long queue. I could see a financier and a real estate person together in one place. The financier had a series of loan schemes and the house which can be booked. The real estate person offered me high discount on costly flats with a 3 options of interior to choose. I could see that each bet other in convincing me to book a loan and house together. On my return, I was a proud owner of a flat which was supposedly to be ready after 3 years.

3. Technology has introduced Mobile phones, which was luxury a few days back has become a necessity. Now it is common among youths. My friend UB too did not hesitate to buy a CDMA mobile which provided a free connection with “LIFELONG COMMUNICATIONS”. The offer included a life time free incoming call scheme. He happily presented it to his Girlfriend. He always ensured to give her calls and flirted with her, ensured that the free incoming scheme was fully utilized. After a month, I saw him less occupied with calls. I could not resist asking the reason to understand if the relation ship was OK. He replied that her mobile had an irreparable problem and he was asked to buy a new one. Just then he realized that the life time free was on the Mobile instrument and not on the connection.

We have newer sales offers like , “Buy Now – Pay later”, schemes provided by FMCG( Fast moving consumer goods), “Pay on Possession”, Pay by EMI which creates a charisma to enhance our commitment capabilities in terms of money to all. How do we manage it? There too are offers provided by our credit cards.

My dear friends, BEWARE…. Today’s Sales offers and results have been KILLERS, unless it is studied fully. Study , Study and Study till you understand the benefits and realize on what the offer is. Is it on Money or on the Product. You can now choose to take it or leave it.
